The Vox AD120VTX combo amp, released in 2003, was a significant upgrade from its predecessor, the AD120VT. Key improvements included lighter, more powerful Celestion/Vox “Neo Dog” 12″ speakers (featuring neodymium magnets) and a durable plywood cabinet.
The AD120VTX also added a speaker impedance selector switch, allowing full 60W x 2 output across 4, 8, or 16-ohm loads. Unlike the open-back AC-30, the AD120VTX featured a closed-back design.
The Vox VC-12 floor controller is designed to expand the functionality of compatible Vox Valvetronix amplifiers (AD60VT, AD60VTX, AD60VTH, AD120VT, AD120VTX, AD120VTH, and Tonelab). It’s not a standalone pedal, but a controller for the amp’s effects and programming.
The VC-12 offers quick access to stored tones, expands patch storage from 32 to 128, and includes a built-in tuner with mute. It also features two programmable rocker pedals for volume, wah, or modulation speed, connecting via a standard Cat 5 cable and coming with a carrying case.
